Shield Point Solutions
Practical, prevention-based security assessments for multifamily communities and schools — grounded in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, shaped by a decade of active law enforcement.
Effective security starts with prevention, informed evaluation, and practical recommendations tailored to each property.
Shield Point Solutions is a security consulting firm providing independent assessments designed to help clients identify vulnerabilities, strengthen safety measures, and make informed decisions about their security needs.
We do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or generic security language. We believe in a straightforward, tailored approach that reflects the realities of each property and provides meaningful guidance clients can actually use.
Designed in, not bolted on.
We work upstream of incidents — shaping the site, behaviour, and posture so opportunity narrows before any control is ever installed.
See the property as it actually behaves.
Walk-throughs, sight-line analysis, and CPTED-grounded review of every entry, edge, and asset — at the hours that matter.
Guidance that moves.
Prioritised, sequenced, and budgeted so your team can act this quarter — not file a report and hope.
Built for the realities of each property.
CPTED principles apply across environments — but a multifamily community and an active school campus operate by different rules. Each service is purpose-built, not translated between them.
Five disciplines, one practice.
Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design is a forty-year-old discipline grounded in a simple idea — the way a property is built and maintained shapes the behavior that occurs on it. Every Shield Point assessment is structured around these five principles.
Natural Surveillance
Design that maximizes visibility — windows, sight lines, lighting, and pedestrian paths that keep eyes on the space. The harder a space is to observe, the more opportunity it creates.
Access Control
Guiding movement through the physical environment — entry points, fencing, landscaping, and signage — so authorized users move freely while unauthorized access is deterred or delayed.
Territorial Reinforcement
Clear boundaries between public, semi-public, and private space. Pavement changes, landscaping, and signage signal ownership and communicate that a space is cared for and observed.
Maintenance
Well-maintained properties signal care and vigilance. Broken fixtures, failing lighting, and overgrown landscaping communicate the opposite — and invite opportunity.
Social Management
An environment that encourages legitimate use by legitimate users — drawing people to occupy a space, building positive social interaction, and putting more eyes on the property.
Jonathan Carrasco

“Effective security starts with prevention, informed evaluation, and practical recommendations tailored to each property.”
Jonathan founded Shield Point Solutions out of a belief that safety and security should be approached proactively, not reactively. Through his law enforcement experience, he has seen firsthand the value of prevention, thoughtful site design, and practical security planning. He started the company to help clients strengthen their properties through CPTED-based assessments and with the long-term goal of promoting wider awareness and application of CPTED principles in schools, multifamily communities, and other properties nationwide.
